The Band was formed in the late 1980s with the aim of fostering public knowledge about Jazz and Swing music through rehearsals and public performance within the Moray area. It has always been a self-funding community band, with our members being of a wide age range and playing ability.
Over the years through some of our concerts we have raised thousands of pounds for charities including Children In Need, The Samaritans, British Red Cross and Help for Heroes. Every year we hold an annual charity concert, previously fundraising for Children in Need but more recently for local charity Friends of The Oaks.
We also take part in the bi-annual Moray Music Festival and in 2002 achieved the highest award, an Outstanding certificate under the direction of Bob Garrity. Our success has continued with George Brown taking over as Musical Director in 2005.
The day to day running of the Band is vested in the Committee, a group of six playing members and include the Chair, Secretary and Treasurer.
We promote a relaxed and welcoming ethos withon the Band at rehearsals with plenty of opportunity to socialise over a cup of tea or coffee and a biscuit at half time.

All players of any standard are welcome (even when sections are compete it is always good to have more players). Please note that we have several vacancies - notably we need BONES - the most fun section in the ensemble. Rehearsals run from 7.30 to 9.15PM every term time Monday at Elgin High School. You will be made very welcome!
